Elbert was born on March 15, 1958, in Detroit, to Elbert Otis Duncan Sr. and Dolores Elizabeth Duncan. Growing up alongside his two brothers, Kelvin and Rodney, Elbert developed a strong sense of responsibility and family connection that he would carry throughout his life.
Educationally, Elbert was a high achiever. He graduated from the prestigious Cass Technical High School and later obtained an advanced degree from Phoenix University. These accomplishments formed the foundation of a successful career in manufacturing. For many years, Elbert proudly served as the Director of Global Manufacturing at General Dynamics in Sterling Heights. He was highly respected for his skills in Process Improvement, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Engineering.

Elbert had a keen passion for home projects and was always happiest when working with his hands. The last testament to his craftsmanship was the deck he rebuilt in the backyard of his home and the basement he finished. He also found joy on the golf course and during long walks with his cherished dog, Star.
Perhaps his most enduring habit was his meticulous planning, a trait he passed down to his son. He was rarely seen without his trusted Franklin Planner, constantly anticipating and preparing for whatever life might bring his way.

Above all, Elbert will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His five grandchildren - Jessica, Kalia, Noah, Naomi, and Michael Elbert Duncan Jr. - were the light of his life. He will be remembered for his kind heart, sharp mind, and the love he had for his family.
